Ecosystem, Metaverse or Multiverse?
What is Moneta Today? Is it an ecosystem, a metaverse or a multiverse? These are the questions that our users are consistently posing in ever-growing numbers. We ourselves, as a development team, have been discussing this issue for a long time. We must admit that it is difficult to answer this question from the get-go, but we will try to present our reasoning nonetheless, and provide our standpoint to clarify this issue.
The term metaverse has gained a lot of popularity lately, especially after Facebook’s landmark decision to move into the newfangled sector by announcing its evolution into Meta. The sector is extremely relevant to VR / AR technologies, which developers are trying to create by relying on virtual universes that are called upon to augment everyday reality. It should be noted that in order to delve into these digital worlds, users should forget about where they are at the moment, and dive into a world of unbridled fantasy. Oftentimes, a simple mobile phone is quite enough to make the jump into a metaverse.
Despite its popularity, Moneta Today is not taking the metaverse development vector. We are not in the business of building a virtual reality environment. We have not set ourselves a task of immersing our users in a metaverse. On the contrary, we want blockchain technology to become more relevant and accessible to average users in real life. We are developing services and products for everyday use, giving users new tools that they can apply in their everyday activities.
Consider another term — the multiverse — one that derives from the realm of science, namely — physics. A multiverse is a theory, which states there is an infinite number of universes out there. Imagine that you have a clone in a parallel universe who is reading this article as well. Though this may sound a bit disturbing, remember that this is just an unproven theory. The concept of a multiverse is quite relevant to what we are working on since we are building services applications that work based on their own laws. For instance, the ecosystem’s crypto game is developing independently from the taxi service, while all are running on the blockchain. These are parallel universes, and our services are connected to each other, just as the theoretic universes are said to be connected by black holes. It is actually quite an intriguing concept!
Now let us consider the term that comes from biology — the ecosystem. In recent years, this term has been used by companies to describe their efforts aimed at combining several products under a single dome. By relying on this rather broad concept, companies are trying to emphasize the connection between their products in economic, informational, and technical terms. Just as in the animal kingdom, the ecosystem is in a state of equilibrium, where each product has its own role to play.
We had originally used the term ecosystem since our products are linked by cross-chain technologies while being independent and reinforcing each other. A common community around our products, a common economy, and a dedicated economy for each product are what we aim to achieve.
We want to make blockchain a reliable partner for daily activities in the real world, not sci-fi. The term ‘ecosystem’ thus suits us best.
